It’s giveaway time again! This time the prize is extra special because not only am i giving away an Iron Man bobblehead, i also entered the 2015 half Iron Man triathlon today. That’s right kids, this nerd is getting FIT.
Towards last year i decided that i needed some time away from the screen. Some time out doors, in the sunlight. Some time with people who’s names didn’t start with an @ symbol. As much as i love my job and this blog, i got to a point where i needed some balance. I started running, then swimming, then got a mountain bike. It was all down hill from there, literally.
I’m super excited about the race. So excited that i’ve decided to give one of my Iron Man 3 (War Machine) bobbleheads away. I have two at home, both still in the packaging and one of them has your name on it.
Thought today was the perfect occasion to give back to you guys, the cool people who read this thing i call a blog. Below is the bobblehead up for grabs, from the Iron Man 3 movie range. I think your desk needs this.
So i’m going to go ahead and assume that you want this Iron Man War Machine bobblehead, surely?
Entering is SIMPLE. Just follow the two steps below.
1. Follow me on Twitter > @KirstyCarrot
2. Click the Tweet button below
That’s all you have to do.
I’ll select a random winner over the weekend and announce on Monday.
Have a sexy weekend people. I guess i’ll be training for this…
Because that’s how my 2015 is going to start. #IM703SA excitement.
I’m not shitting you. There is a video and everything, a guy in America really risked his life to save his Xbox. Not sure what model 😉
If you’re house ever catches on fire i’m going to recommend you DON’T do this. I’ve actually seen someone run into a burning holiday resort before (i’m talking 40m high flames) to get their valuables. And by ‘valuables’ i mean a 5 litre box of Cellar Cask Rose Wine. And by ‘someone’ i mean @Jess_Obese. In her defense, we did have warm wine to drink whilst we spend hours waiting for the fire brigade to safe guard the chalets. She didn’t get the plastic cups though, rookie mistake.
Similar situation happened in this video below. A guy woke up, realized his house was on fire, and ran outside. He then obviously remembered that his Xbox was trapped inside. Shock. Horror. Panic. Apparently, when he ran back inside to rescue it he suffered smoke inhalation – that’s what i like to call a loyal Xbox fan. He should get an award or something.
It was only a matter of time. Screen Junkies are back and they have created another Honest Trailer that will have you tweeting things like ‘LOL for days’ and other social jargon that your mother doesn’t understand.
Everybody is talking about Robocop, so much so that the movie is getting an Honest Trailer before it’s even been released – most of it is based on the original 1987 movie though. Best part… ‘It’s been rated R cause that’s how you make a fucking Robocop movie’!
If you’ve seen the original Robocop masterpiece you might just enjoy this.
Remember when the internet got HULK angry about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman? Who can forget. People were talking about it for days (which is like an eternity online). I felt kinda sorry for Ben but not sorry enough to keep these tweets and this fan art off my blog. It was just too good 😉
Good news for Ben is that the internet is starting to warm up to him. Bottom line is that Ben Affleck will be playing Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman and all the complaining in the world isn’t going to change that.
In a recent interview with Playboy, Ben talks about understanding the wrath of fans, as well as the parts of Snyder’s vision that made him want to take the role in the first place. He makes some valid points kids, i think i’m starting to like him.
This is what he had to say…
“I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet. If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?… [But] I’ve learned it doesn’t matter what people think before a movie comes out; what matters is what people think when they see the movie. There’s a lot of noise in the world, and the internet magnifies that energy. My focus is on the actual execution of the movie. Would I have had that perspective 10 years ago? I don’t know. The world was different then.
“It seems odd to me to criticize casting if you haven’t read the script and don’t know the tone or the take. But the casting of high-profile projects seems to generate negative attention; it’s fun to give your thumbs-up or thumbs-down. I’ve had the luxury recently of doing Argo, The Town and The Company Men, films that didn’t have a high profile. You have the luxury of waiting until the movie is released before being judged. I’ve learned to think, I may succeed or fail, but I’m going to do so on the merit of my own instincts. It’s a great business in that way. You do a movie that’s successful, you get a little victory lap, and then you start at the beginning; you have to prove yourself all over again. I like that because it motivates you to work harder.”
I’m not the hugest cupcake fan but i’ve learnt to appreciate them more and more as people started baking them, it’s weird how your friends start baking when they get older eh? Next is knitting i assume. The thing i like most about cupcakes is the decorations and shapes and colours that people create. Sometimes i want to buy cupcakes just because they look so epic.
I’ve gone out and found some cupcake moulds that the bakers could use to nerdify their cupcakes. If you buy any of these bad boys you better make me a cupcake hey. Not cheatsies. Just made that word up right now, you heard it here first folks 😉

Found these chairs that have been designed based on Simpsons characters. For some reason they made me think of that silly Chairs video that Facebook made last year. Remember that? What was the point of that?
Anyways, let me not get to side tracked. I have a story about some chairs that people actually WANT to talk about. 56th Studio makes graphical, quirky and decorative objects that will put all your regular furniture to shame. The chairs are the coolest.
Check out these chairs designed around different members of The Simpsons family.
But wait, there’s more.
I had a dig around their portfolio and it seems The Simpsons inspired furniture isn’t the only geek inspired stuff they make. Chairs be crazy yo.
A few more of the rad designs below. Sure these will be massively expensive but hey, let’s screen shop anyway.
You can follow them on Twitter if you want to see more.
Illustrator Miguel Cardona has been using the cups to create art since last year. He’s been doing it for a good cause too. He sells the cups for $20 each and donates the money to the homeless. You can stay Miguel 😉
He’s super talented, i never considered cup art to be a thing but throw some Breaking Bad illustrations on a cup and it seems people WILL buy it. Or Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles, that is a pretty cool cup theme. Imagine if local coffee shops bought a few to give away randomly to their customers. Surely this thing could get huge?
Check out some of his designs. All proceeds go to Project Night Night.
It’s ok to talk about alcohol cause it’s Friday right?
Jelly Belly have just made an announcement that they will be adding a new flavour to their range. Inspired by the brand’s German roots, they aimed for a Hefeweizen ale flavour. Now your Jelly Beans can taste like draft beer. That’s kind of a big deal, even for the non beer drinkers like me.
According to the Jelly Belly, “beer has been a highly-requested flavor for decades” – i’m not really that surprised.
Are you ready for this?
In my poll yesterday i asked you kids what brands you like. Star Wars came out tops.
This discovery is my gift to you for taking the time to tick the boxes. I found these (light up) Star Wars Lightsaber Sunglasses that you can actually purchase. Would be close on 500 bucks though after shipping and import costs etc so i’m not sure i’d actually but them but cool to look at still
