It’s Captain America time here in South Africa. I’ve got the movie premiere tomorrow night with @MnetMovies and then the movie officially launches in South Africa on Friday. Say whaaaaat!? I’m going to be honest and say that Captain America isn’t my favourite of the Superhero franchises. But there is something i’m looking forward to in this film. Chris Evans. CHRIS EVANS!
I think the official movie poster is a bit bleh, but there are some really cool fan art posters for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. These are my favourite posters from around the web.
If you somehow missed the movie trailer, i’ve posted it below to get your eye balls excited. Are you going to see it this weekend?
If Mashable says it, it must be true. This new HBO comedy called ‘Silicon Valley’ might just be the best show to hit television this millennium. The show follows the lives of a bunch of nerds (it’s ok to call them that in 2014) as they venture into the startup world, showing off the Silicon Valley lifestyle we all dream of. Well, i dream of 😉
Nerds are some of the most interesting people around, if you don’t believe me just look at the Big Bang Theory ratings. This show throws business into the mix so i’m SOLD.
Airs in America on April 6th, now sure if it’s coming to our SA screens though. Will find out.
Remember when the internet got HULK angry about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman? Who can forget. People were talking about it for days (which is like an eternity online). I felt kinda sorry for Ben but not sorry enough to keep these tweets and this fan art off my blog. It was just too good 😉
Good news for Ben is that the internet is starting to warm up to him. Bottom line is that Ben Affleck will be playing Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman and all the complaining in the world isn’t going to change that.
In a recent interview with Playboy, Ben talks about understanding the wrath of fans, as well as the parts of Snyder’s vision that made him want to take the role in the first place. He makes some valid points kids, i think i’m starting to like him.
This is what he had to say…
“I understand I’m at a disadvantage with the internet. If I thought the result would be another Daredevil, I’d be out there picketing myself. [laughs] Why would I make the movie if I didn’t think it was going to be good and that I could be good in it?… [But] I’ve learned it doesn’t matter what people think before a movie comes out; what matters is what people think when they see the movie. There’s a lot of noise in the world, and the internet magnifies that energy. My focus is on the actual execution of the movie. Would I have had that perspective 10 years ago? I don’t know. The world was different then.
“It seems odd to me to criticize casting if you haven’t read the script and don’t know the tone or the take. But the casting of high-profile projects seems to generate negative attention; it’s fun to give your thumbs-up or thumbs-down. I’ve had the luxury recently of doing Argo, The Town and The Company Men, films that didn’t have a high profile. You have the luxury of waiting until the movie is released before being judged. I’ve learned to think, I may succeed or fail, but I’m going to do so on the merit of my own instincts. It’s a great business in that way. You do a movie that’s successful, you get a little victory lap, and then you start at the beginning; you have to prove yourself all over again. I like that because it motivates you to work harder.”
Bad news Superhero fans. Superman and Batman’s big screen team-up has been delayed by almost a year, film studio Warner Bros has confirmed. Now we have to wait TWO years to see if Ben Affleck ruins a Batman movie.
Originally scheduled for July 2015, one of the most anticipated superhero movies of our decade will now be released on the 6th of May, 2016. According to Warner Bros, the release date has been pushed back to “allow the filmmakers time to realise fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”
Bottom line is we have to wait over two year now to see Superman and Batman in action. And let’s not forget the most recent hero addition to he cast – Fast and Furious star Gal Gadot – who has been signed up to play Wonder Woman. I think it will be worth the wait though, do you?
The original rumor was that the delay was caused by Ben Affleck’s leg injury, but that’s been dismissed by the studio. It’s probably for the best cause i can only imagine the internet jokes that would have followed, starting with ‘Ben ruins the Batman movie’. So. Many. Possibilities.
This is what Warner Bros president Kwan Vandenberg has told the media, “We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next superhero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever.”
Last year was flooded with great movies – Iron Man 3, The Wolverine, Kick-Ass 2 – i’m leaving my favourite romantic comedies off the list for your sanity but here were loads of goodies in that genre too 😉 I was pretty impressed with most of the action in 2013, my only disappointment was Man Of Steel to be honest.
I think this year will be just as exciting to be honest, in a different way but some great movies to look forward too never the less. Robocop seems to be the biggie that everyone is talking about so i hope it can live up to it’s own PR.
2. Need For Speed (I realise most of you will disagree with this one but i’m gonna stick with it)
3. The Lego Movie
4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
I realise i’ve left X-Men: Days Of Future Past off the list, i’m sure most of you would be keen to watch it but it didn’t make my top 5. I have Need For Speed on the list though which is a bit of a wild card – for someone who really has no interest in cars i don’t understand my love for fast, sexy car movies but for some odd reason i just love them. I’m convinced Paul Walker lured me into them with his rugged good looks. Still can’t believe he isn’t here anymore.
Which one of these movies are you most excited about? I think it’s The Lego movie for me. Tough call.
I’m really looking forward to this movie. Spiderman may not be my favourite hero but the franchise makes some of the best Superhero movies around if you ask me. I think it’s cause i love the side story of Peter Parker, his love life, his family and all his normal geek problems. That and the addition of a slick Superhero suit and bad-ass moves equals my kind of movie.
Anyways, i came across this photo from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. There really are some gems floating around the internet, thought i’d share it with you…
Have a GREAT Monday adult children, we’re almost at year end, not much longer now!
About two weeks ago the kids over at @mnetmovies asked people how a superhero could brighten up their day. If you don’t remember i blogged about it here. There were some interesting requests, even one from a Bulldog…
Oh wait, that’s MY Bulldog. Of course it is.
The cool thing about all those tweets is that M-Net Movies made them come to life. And they made a pretty cool video at the same time. Check out Batman, Spider-Man and The Hulk rocking up in YOUR cities.
Did you see BATDOG!? Did you see him?
You know how much he loves fancy dress 😉
But wait. I’m about to give you another gift…
EVERY night at 7pm for the whooooole month of October, there is going to be a Superhero movie on M-Net Movies Showcase (DSTV channel 108). I’m not joking. This is very real.
Tonight they are showing my second favourite Batman movie of all time…
To follow the action, keep your eyes locked on the @mnetmovies Twitter handle. They will be keeping us up to date with the #Superheroes movie schedule and insider info about the different heroes.
