We all watch The Big Bang Theory right? I love pausing the show to check out their action figures and poster art. Please tell me i’m not the only person who does that? PLEASE.
Anyways, these are my top 10 favourite probs from the set of The Big Bang Theory.
1. Sheldon’s Batman Cookie Jar
Season one, episode 13, Leonard gives Sheldon a Batman cookie jar to ease the news that the guys decided to kick him out of their Physics Bowl team. Luckily Sheldon really likes the present and keeps it. It’s still around and i’m on season six already. Batman cookies be crazy.
2. Robot Line-up Poster in Leonard’s Bedroom
One particular artist that seems to pop up around Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment is Eric Joyner. You can see his well known art piece that people often describe as the “Robot Line-up” – even though it’s actually called “Caught Again”. Either way, LOVE IT.
3. ‘War Of The Worlds’ Poster in the Hallway
This Big Bang Theory Poster hangs in the hallway between Sheldon and Leonard’s room and seems to bi a big topic amongst internet nerds. Apparently it is the August 1927 Magazine Cover of “Amazing Stories”, which depicts ‘War of the Worlds’, a popular science fiction novel by H. G. Wells.
4. Retro Field Radio
For the Hipster geeks. The radio is part of a collection called “Spirit of St. Louis”, this particular classic is a “Field Radio” model. They make lots of variations of classic radios, clocks, watches and lighters - all with a retro style inspired by the famous Trans-Atlantic airplane.
5. Sheldons Battlestar Galactica Toaster
Sheldon owns a limited-edition Battlestar Galactica toaster that imprints the head of a new series Cyclon Centurion onto the bread. I’ve seen Darth Vader ones floating around the internet too.
6. Periodic Elements Shower Curtain in Bathroom
This shower curtain is one of the more readily available probs available on sites like Amazon.com – Leonard and Sheldon have been showering behind the table of elements since season one.
7. Godzilla Poster in Leonards Room
In Leonards room, we find the Godzilla poster titled “Just Another Day in L.A.”. Its kind of an amalgam between Godzilla, King Kong and Star Trek – with flying saucers, Tin robots and Giant Donuts. This painting can be found in Eric Joyner’s book “Robots and Donuts”. I’ve attached a close up of the print so you can see more of the detail.
8. Rubik’s Cube Tissue Box
In this pic, Leonard is holding a tissue box shaped like the unsolved version of a Rubiks Cube. Making this tissue box cover is one of the most popular geek DIY themes on the internet. Looks pretty simple too. If you want to make one yourself just search YouTube.
9. Howard’s Lava Lamps
I had a lava lamp as a kid, it was pretty much the only thing i got before anyone else because my Mom was in the lighting industry. Think that’s why i love the fact that Howard has more than one!
10. Antique Fuse Holder
This is probably the most puzzling prop on the Big Bang Theory set. It took a bit of Googling to find out what it is and i still don’t really understand. People have thought that it may be a “Piano Action” or a “Synthesizer Keyboard” but actually it is a Terminal block of Antique Fuses. Look closely, each row has a fuse connected from the left to right. Each fuse is bolted to it’s connection on the terminal block with two bolt. Each fuse has two eilets (one on each side) where it is bolted onto the terminal block (or strip). HUH?
Ok i know i only said 10 items but how can we forget Howard’s Lightsabers off the list?
This would be number 11, from Howard’s Bedroom
Quite a bit of my research was done on ChasingProps.com – it’s a new site i’ve found with loads of crowd sourced research on props from famous TV shows. Pretty cool.
